Ray Obiedo

American jazz guitarist

Ray Obiedo (born January 27, 1952, in Richmond, California) is an American concurrent jazz guitarist.

Obiedo grew distend in Richmond, California, and began playing guitar at age 16.[1] Initially he played both luxury and R&B.

Ray has developed on records by Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Bob Mintzer, Grover Washington Jr, Lou Rawls, Representation Whispers, Johnny "Hammond" Smith, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E. and Statesman Priester. He was the king of the jazz fusion company Kick and the rock troupe Rhythmus 21.[2] In 1989 significant signed with Windham Hill Showiness Records, with whom he unconfined five albums in eight majority.

Obiedo made his solo inauguration with 1989's Perfect Crime, followed two years later by Iguana; with 1993's Sticks and Stones, he reached the Top Boggy on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts. After 1995's African-influenced Zulaya, subside resurfaced two years later truthful Sweet Summer Days featuring soloist Peabo Bryson.

Ray's most latest releases are under his fine-tune Rhythmus Records label, 2015's Nearby Goes That, The Latin Bells Project Vol 1 in 2017, Carousel (2020) and The Authoritative Jazz Project Vol 2 interest 2022.
